In response to this annual
challenge
I've had lots of time to
think.
Alex was my person
How easy, no rush –
whatever.
Time went on –
Subtle comments from my
wife.
Summer came
Then not so subtle
suggestions.
Times a movin' on this
year.
Fall seemed to come
And then was gone.
I guess I better get
serious-
Would you like some ideas
she asked (again)
Sure – whatever –
I've still got lots of
time.
OK – but how about this
idea
She suggested I paint the
Olsen's front door.
(It was brand new –
several years ago – but never painted)
And afterall, front doors
are my specialty.
Yea, that's good –
whatever.
Alex is easy.....
I really just need to
invite him over
And play a game with him.
In actuality – time was
movin' on
I needed to take it
seriously
So we presented the plan
to Colleen and Gale -
There concern was it was
just too cold
Ahh, whatever
I can use a hair dryer –
like I did at the Whipples
But this is there home –
so I wanted to respect their wishes.
Maybe in the Spring.
So, long about then –
Dixie suggested the class
on learning about Autism.
I went to the class with
Mom, there was a ton of information.
Then the greatest
opportunity popped up
Well, maybe
If they actually get the
house
I will be kept very busy
Demolishing, finish
carpentering,
Patching, sanding, &
painting.
It will look like new-
And I'm happy to help by
sharing my talents with you.
Yes! Free painter Al!
ReplyDeleteSo great! We really appreciate all the painting you've done for us Dad. Both great ways to serve Alex.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear more about the autism class!
